Flying Pig Designs is full of unique, inventive engineers, and Anthony is among the best – not to
mention he’s also an awesome human. Intrigued? Say no more. Here is a little bit of info about Anthony.

Name: Anthony Nguyen

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Hometown: Federal Heights, Colorado

College/University: University of Colorado, Boulder. I also went to University of Wollongong for a year.

Area(s) of Expertise: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical
instrumentation, boogie factor.

Hobbies: “Avid bear fighter. Occasionally combats wombats. Can be seen, like the cryptid Yeti, face down
in a pile of snow “soaking in the cold”. Enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities, including sunbathing like a
lizard, canoeing, photography, motorcycling, (not) hiking, and the rare tree-and-glue sniffing sesh. In his
free time, he likes to paint and mail postcards to people. He is a rock enthusiast, as in he climbs them to
assert dominance. Back in his youth, when running had yet to be invented by Thomas Running, he could
be found trading Pokémon with the local playground pterodactyl, Phyllus. Requests for postcards via
messenger pigeon only please.” – Anthony

Pets: A German Shepard named Ragnar (he’s my roommates). I also have a little chihuahua mix
named Emma, and I adopted my friends’ dogs Truckee and Kaia.

Favorite Food: Watermelon, with dried mango from the Philippines being a close second.

Favorite Aspects of Your Job: “I like getting a slice of everything! I have only just started but I like the team I work with
especially, with our differing experience and backgrounds. So far, I am loving the hands on aspects of
this job.” – Anthony

Coolest Invention/Project You Have Worked On: “The coolest project that I have worked on was for the Colorado Space Grant Consortium on their Wearables Quest student project. We were given the task of making a stress-sensing detector that
astronauts could use while aboard the ISS. We accomplished this with a team of seven and by using a
cortisol-selective membrane installed within an organic electrochemical transistor. We got to work with
NASA as well as researchers from Stanford and CU Boulder.” – Anthony

Personal Fun Fact: “The first concert I went to was for an American Funk band called Vulfpeck at Red Rocks, and it
was amazing. Not only were the musicians amazing, but there was also a guy wearing a sombrero two
rows down that was absolutely grooving for the whole concert. Everything was silky smooth and he
moved with determination and purpose. We do not know each other, but he is an inspiration to me.”

There you have it! We are so happy to have Anthony as part of the Flying Pig family!
